The country's largest continuous tidal and shallow-water area, a Ramsar wetland of 15.8 square kilometres on the western side of the Ørland peninsula with ten kilometres of shoreline. Common Eider, Northern Shoveler, Ruff and Northern Lapwing breed in the area, while Arctic waders such as Purple Sandpiper and Red Knot stop over here on migration.
