Kjørholmane nature reserve in Sola municipality is the largest and most important seabird colony in Rogaland, and since 2011 it has been part of the Rott-Håstein-Kjør Ramsar site together with the islands of Rott and Håstein. The European Shag population has grown from around 30 pairs in the 1970s to over 2,600 pairs in 2006, and the reserve is also home to Northern Fulmar, Common Eider, Razorbill and Common Guillemot.
