The Common Greenshank nests singly on mires and in open woodland. The nest is a simple scrape on a tussock, often next to a stone, a stump or a small pine that serves as a landmark. The female usually lays 4 eggs, which are incubated by both parents. The young are nidifugous and leave the nest shortly after hatching to find food themselves under the parents' watch.
