The European Turtle Dove nests in open, warm farmland with elements of scrub, hedges and copses. The nest is a sparse platform of twigs, placed in a dense bush or a small tree. The female normally lays 2 white eggs, and both parents share the incubation, which lasts about two weeks. The young are initially fed with crop milk and fledge after barely three weeks.
