Falsterbo, on the south-western tip of Skåne, is by far Europe's best-known raptor migration site. During September and October, hundreds of thousands of birds pass over the peninsula on their way south — on the best days, thousands of European Honey Buzzards, Common Buzzards and Eurasian Sparrowhawks are counted per hour. Falsterbo Bird Observatory, founded in 1955, is one of Europe's oldest and most respected bird observatories.
