Getterön nature reserve just outside Varberg in Halland is one of Sweden's best wader sites and a paradise for birdwatchers on the west coast. The shallow coastal waters attract Pied Avocet, Common Redshank and Eurasian Oystercatcher during the breeding season, and during autumn migration thousands of waders of many species stop over. The reserve's hides and screens make it possible to get close to the birdlife without disturbance.
