Birdwatching at Hornborgasjön, Sweden

Hornborgasjön in Västra Götaland is Sweden's most visited birding site and renowned as the springtime meeting place of the cranes. During March and April, up to 20,000 Common Cranes gather at the restored lake in one of Europe's most spectacular bird spectacles. Alongside the cranes, Western Marsh Harrier, Great Crested Grebe and Northern Shoveler breed here, and Whooper Swans stop over in large numbers.
