Måkläppen is a protected sand spit by the Falsterbo Canal. Some sections are closed to access all year round, while the other zones are closed from 1 February to 31 October to protect terns and Pied Avocets — the public may visit the reserve from 1 November to 31 January. Seals are a common sight.
