Malå is a small town in north-western Västerbotten surrounded by vast forests with a rich birdlife. The Siberian Jay is a resident that is seen regularly, and Three-toed Woodpecker breeds in old-growth forest. Golden Eagle is seen along the forested heights, and Capercaillie and Black Grouse breed here.
