The Arctic Redpoll breeds in Arctic willow terrain and mountain birch forest in the far north. Any breeding in Sweden takes place in the mountains of Lapland and is scarce and hard to assess, partly because of the species' unclear delimitation from the Common Redpoll. The nest is built low in a bush or a small tree and is well lined with feathers and plant down as protection against the cold. The clutch usually comprises 4–6 eggs.
