The Eurasian Woodcock nests on the ground. The nest is a shallow scrape among leaves and brushwood, well hidden in the forest undergrowth. The female usually lays 4 eggs, which she incubates for about three weeks. The young are nest-leavers that follow the female, and she tends the brood alone.
