European Serin: Song & calls

The song is an intense, jingling, whirling stream of high notes — as if a shard of glass were rubbing against glass — delivered in a rapid, unbroken flow. The male often sings from the top of a conifer. The flight call is a short, squeaky "trrullit" or "tirri". The song carries surprisingly far for so small a bird.
