The Lapland Longspur is a ground-nester. The nest is placed well hidden between tussocks or under a bush on the mountain heath. The female usually lays 4–6 eggs, and the species generally has a single brood per season because the breeding season in the mountains is short. The young leave the nest before they are fully fledged.
