Lesser Spotted Woodpecker: Song & calls

The commonest call is a whining, descending "ki-ki-ki-ki-ki" that somewhat recalls the Golden Oriole's. The drumming is relatively long and even, about one to one and a half seconds, and thinner and weaker than the Great Spotted Woodpecker's shorter drum rolls.
