The nest is a shallow scrape on open sand or gravel, often entirely unsheltered. The female usually lays 4 eggs, which both parents incubate for about three to four weeks. The young are nest-leavers that leave the nest site shortly after hatching. When disturbed, the adults often perform a distraction display, feigning a broken wing.
