Mallard: Song & calls

  • The female quacks: the classic "quack-quack-quack" — loud, falling and rasping. Alarm, contact and calling.
  • The male: a discreet nasal "reb" or "raeb".
  • In flight: the wings produce a whistling sound; the female quacks while flying.

Recordings can be found on xeno-canto.
