Northern Goshawk: In winter
The Northern Goshawk is a resident bird that remains in its forest territory throughout the winter.
- Stationary: it does not leave the country but moves within the same old-growth forest landscape all year round.
- Hunting: in winter it hunts pigeons, corvids, Black Grouse and Common Pheasant by stealthy flight and swift surprise attacks.
- The territory: the pair stays together around the nest site, and the same area is used season after season.
Since the species is resident, a Northern Goshawk can be seen hunting along the forest edges even in the middle of winter.
