The Pink-footed Goose does not breed in Sweden. On Svalbard, Iceland and Greenland it breeds in loose colonies on tundra, on slopes and on rocky crags, preferably near water and in places that provide protection from the Arctic fox. The geese arrive early at the breeding sites and are in a hurry to complete breeding during the short Arctic summer. The pairs stay together year after year, and the young follow their parents throughout the entire first autumn and winter, including during migration to and their stay in Sweden.
