The Rock Pipit breeds in the coastal rocky environment and places its cup-shaped nest well concealed in a crevice, under a tussock or among seaweed and drift material near the sea. The clutch usually comprises 4–6 eggs, and both parents take part in feeding the young. The bleak, wind-exposed breeding environment means the nest site must be well protected against weather and predators.
