The Spotted Flycatcher builds a half-open nest that is preferably placed on a ledge, in a climbing plant against a house wall, in a woodpile or in a half-open nest box. The female usually lays 4–6 eggs, which are incubated for about two weeks. Both parents feed the young, and in favourable situations the pair can manage two broods despite the short season.
