The Wood Sandpiper's commonest call is a ringing, bright and slightly giggling "tiff-tiff-tiff", often heard from birds as they flush and fly up. The call is brighter and more tinkling than the sharper notes of the Green Sandpiper. During the breeding season it also gives a yodelling display song.
