The Woodlark nests on open, dry and preferably sandy ground with scattered trees and bushes — typically on clear-fells, heaths, in open pine forests and on sandy fields. The nest is well hidden in a hollow on the ground, lined with grass and hair. The female normally lays 3–5 eggs, which she incubates for about 12–15 days. The young are nest-leavers that leave the nest before they are able to fly. The species can have two broods in a good season.
