Breeding season: April–July, one brood per year. - Nest: A shallow scrape trampled into a stand of grass; lined with a little grass and leaves; placed out in the open on short-grazed grassland. - Eggs: 4 eggs, olive-brown with darker spots; incubation 22–24 days; both parents incubate. - Young: Newly hatched chicks are nidifugous (leaving the nest soon) and forage independently; can fly after about 25–30 days.
