Canada Goose: In winter

The Canada Goose is more or less a resident in Sweden, and ever more birds overwinter in the country instead of migrating further south.

• Overwintering: many stay at ice-free waters in southern Sweden, while others only move short distances south.
• Flocking: in winter large flocks gather on pastures, fields and at open lakes and bays to graze.
• Food: it grazes grass, winter crops and spilt grain, and the large flocks can cause local conflicts in parks and at bathing places.
