The Common Gull is a typical omnivore and opportunist. Its diet consists of insects, earthworms, small rodents, fish, berries and refuse. It is often seen searching for worms on damp lawns, ploughed fields and football pitches, and readily gathers at sewage works and rubbish tips. Despite its Swedish name, fish is only part of its diet.
