Common Moorhen: Song & calls

The Common Moorhen has a powerful, somewhat bubbling and explosive call often rendered as "kurr-ruk", along with clattering and cackling calls. The calls are often heard from the reed edge without the bird being seen, and reveal its presence in a pond or a ditch. The species is most vocal in spring and early summer.
