Eurasian Bittern: Breeding

The nest is built of reeds and placed on a platform of trampled-down reeds directly on the water surface within the reedbed. The clutch comprises 4–6 eggs. The female handles incubation and feeding alone; the male is polygynous and does not contribute to the care of the young.
