The Eagle-Owl is a resident bird that holds a territory all year and stays put even during winter.
Call: the territorial call, the muffled "huu-hooo", is heard most intensively during winter and early spring, from January to March, when territories are established.
Hunting: it hunts at dusk and in darkness and takes a broad range of prey, from voles and hares to birds, with its powerful talons.
Sedentary: the pair rarely leaves its territory and does not move south in winter.
The resonant winter nights are often the best time to hear and locate an Eagle-Owl.
