Eurasian Scops Owl: Breeding

The Eurasian Scops Owl is a cavity nester that builds no nest of its own but uses natural tree cavities, old woodpecker holes or nest boxes. The female usually lays 3–6 eggs, which she incubates while the male hunts and provides her with food. Since the species does not in practice breed in Sweden, reproduction takes place in the more southerly parts of its range.
