The Eurasian Siskin lives on small seeds, above all from alder, birch and spruce, supplemented by some insects in summer. It often hangs upside down in dangling alder cones to pick out the seeds, which its light and agile body makes possible. At bird tables niger seeds and small sunflower seeds are appreciated, especially in autumn and winter.
