The Eurasian Wren normally nests in the open within dense ground vegetation, but it will take an open-fronted (semi-open) nest box placed low down and well concealed.
Type: open front, ideally partly overgrown by climbing plants, 1–2 m up in a sheltered corner.
Winter roost box: nest boxes and cavities also serve an important winter function — on cold nights many wrens may huddle together in the same box to keep warm (see winter habits).
