In the south the Eurasian Wren is resident, and winter is the species' great bottleneck.
Cold-sensitive: because it lives on insects, severe, snowy winters hit the population hard.
Communal roosting: to survive cold nights, wrens huddle together in tightly packed groups inside a nest box or cavity — sometimes more than twenty birds have been counted in a single nest.
Habitat: it keeps to sheltered, damp spots with dense undergrowth.
