The Green Sandpiper is often easier to hear than to see. When flushed from a ditch it rises steeply with a loud, shrill "tluitt-vitt-vitt". The song flight over the breeding territory is accompanied by a rhythmic, yodelling "tittudia-tittudia" that carries far on the early spring morning.
