The Grey Partridge nests on the ground, often well hidden in a field edge or in vegetation-rich ground. It is known for its very large clutches and can lay 10–20 eggs, among the largest clutch sizes of any Swedish bird. The chicks are nidifugous and stay together with the parents in a family flock, a so-called covey, well into the winter.
