The Grey Partridge's territorial call is a dry, somewhat rusty and creaking “kirr-ikk” often heard at dusk and dawn in spring. It is a characteristic sound of the open farmland and often reveals the bird before it is seen. When flushed, a rapid, cackling alarm call is often heard.
