The Grey Wagtail nests near running water. The nest is preferably placed in a sheltered niche, such as a crevice in a stone wall, under a bridge or in a bridge abutment, often right beside the water. The female usually lays 4–6 eggs, which are incubated for about two weeks. Both parents feed the young, and in southern Sweden the pair often manages two broods in a season.
