The Hooded Crow is a thoroughgoing omnivore that takes carrion, eggs and nestlings, small animals, insects, grain, berries and refuse. It is known for its problem-solving behaviour and can, for example, crack hard nuts by dropping them from a height onto a hard surface. Its broad, adaptable diet and its ability to solve problems are an important reason why the crow does so well in both farmland and towns.
