Long-tailed Tit: Migration
The Long-tailed Tit is mainly a resident.
- Sedentary: the family flocks stay within a limited area all year round.
- Irruption years: in some autumns northern and eastern birds (the white-headed race caudatus) may appear further south in irruptive movements.
- No long migrations: the species makes no regular long-distance migrations, but young birds may disperse some way from their birthplace in autumn.
