Red-necked Grebe: Song & calls

The Red-necked Grebe is loud during the breeding season. The commonest call is a harsh, whining and somewhat pig-like "yark-yark-yark" that is often repeated in long series at the nest site. The sounds are heard especially at morning and evening and can carry far across a calm lake.
