Whinchat: Song & calls

The commonest call is a hard, smacking "tsäk-tsäk" that sounds like two stones being struck together, often combined with a thin whistle. The song is a short, somewhat crackling and repetitive phrase, often interspersed with skilful imitations of other birds.
