The Wood Warbler breeds in older deciduous woodland, preferably in beech and oak woods with tall-stemmed trees and sparse undergrowth. The nest is a domed, roofed structure with a side entrance, placed on the ground, often hidden beneath ferns or a tussock of grass. The female usually lays 5–7 eggs, which she incubates for about two weeks.
