The Wood Warbler's song is unmistakable. It begins with a few clear, ticking "sip" notes that accelerate and pass into a spinning, buzzing trill: "sip-sip-sip-sipsipsirrrrr". The trill is often likened to a coin spinning to rest on a marble slab. The male often delivers the song during a short song-flight between branches. In addition, a quite different, plaintive phrase of falling "piu-piu-piu" notes is heard.
