Breeding season: April–July, 1 brood per season. - Nest: a large stick nest in a sturdy deciduous tree or pine, 5–20 m up. Old nests are reused and added to year after year. - Eggs: 2–3, pale yellow with red markings. Incubation 33–38 days by both parents. - Young: fed on voles, chicks and frogs. Fledged after 44–50 days.
