The Common Redpoll is often heard before it is seen. The commonest call is a dry, metallic and rolling "tjett-tjett-tjett" that flocks give in flight. The song is a twittering, somewhat buzzing jumble with interspersed nasal "tsooii" notes. The soundscape from a large flock in the birch tops is lively and continuous.
