Eurasian Tree Sparrow: Migration

The Eurasian Tree Sparrow is a distinctly sedentary bird.

  • Stationary: rarely moves far from its breeding area and can be seen in the same place all year round.
  • Dispersal of young: young birds disperse locally in autumn to find their own territories and nest sites.
  • No real migration: unlike many other finches, the tree sparrow has no proper migratory movements.
