Long-eared Owl: Diet

The Long-eared Owl lives almost exclusively on small rodents, above all voles. The strong dependence on voles means the population and breeding success follow the vole cycles closely. It hunts by flying low and silently over open ground at dusk and at night, or by watching from a perch, and locates its prey with its very keen hearing.
