The Red Kite builds its nest high up in a deciduous tree, often in a copse in the farmland landscape. The nest is not seldom adorned with rubbish, rags and other material. The female usually lays 2–3 eggs, and the pair readily reuses the same nest site year after year. Breeding success has benefited from reduced persecution and from targeted conservation measures.
