The Feral Pigeon breeds in buildings, on roof beams, under bridges, in ventilation openings and on other cliff-like structures — a direct equivalent of the Rock Dove's natural cliff ledges. The nest is a simple platform of twigs. The female normally lays 2 white eggs, and the pair may have several broods spread over much of the year, even in winter in mild urban climates. Incubation is carried out by both parents, and the young are fed initially with so-called crop milk, a nutritious secretion from the crop.
