The Stock Dove is a cavity nester and breeds in tree holes, often in abandoned Black Woodpecker holes, since it cannot excavate a cavity itself. It also readily takes larger nest boxes. The clutch normally comprises 2 eggs, and, as in other pigeons, the young are initially fed nutritious crop milk produced by both parents. The species can raise several broods in a season.
