The Stock Dove's call is a deep, two-syllable and somewhat creaking cooing, often rendered as "oo-roo-ooh", with clear emphasis on the first syllable. The phrase is repeated monotonously in long series, and the call is darker, hoarser and more muffled than the fuller cooing of the Common Wood Pigeon. The song is heard above all in spring and early summer.
